Domain Specific Languages and healthcare

I have been mulling for some time on how healthcare standards including HL7 can better engage with and leverage horizontal standards and technology developments. In particular I am looking at the work happening around Domain Specific Languages and seeing many of the same issues that we are looking at within HL7 being addressed. In future posts I will explore this in more detail.

Quick discharge letter specification.

Working on a simple narrative CDA discharge specification based on the Kettering message. The intent is to get something that can be implemented quickly, and is a reasonable next step taking into account the NHS CFH MIM discharge document specification, the IHE profile, and the Kettering Message.
Initial specification will be example driven and assume a reasonable understanding of CDA and the Kettering message -- ie will be fit for a controlled implementation but not for broad roll-out.
As well as being done for a real implementation project, and meet a broad need in the NHS and beyond, this is a useful exercise in seeing what the challenges are in producing such a "simple" specification.
